Verification and AML
This page covers everyone who registers, deposits or withdraws at Cold Lake Casino. It applies from the moment you register until your account is closed. Read it alongside our Terms & Conditions and How We Handle Your Data.
Knowing why we verify
Every player is verified for three reasons: keeping minors out, blocking fraud and stopping money laundering. We offer our services only where local law permits them, and we meet Canadian rules on age checks, identity checks and anti-money laundering.
- Each account must belong to one real, identified adult aged 19+.
- We confirm your location and identity before you make your first deposit.
- Payment methods must belong to the account holder.
- Withdrawals go only to methods in the account holder's name.
Most checks are done in minutes. Verify early and cash out faster: verified players get paid in 1 to 4 hours on most methods.
Screening against sanction lists and PEP records
At sign-up and on an ongoing basis, we screen players against Canadian and international sanction lists. We also check whether each player is a politically exposed person (PEP).
- A PEP is a person who currently holds, or previously held, a senior public role in Canada or abroad.
- Screening also covers relatives and close associates of a PEP.
- Being a PEP does not block you from playing. It means extra checks, including on where your money comes from.
- A confirmed match on a sanction list means we cannot open or keep the account.
Confirming your age and identity
At sign-up, we record your home address, birth date and full legal name, then confirm them electronically. If that electronic check can't establish your identity, we request documents.
To confirm identity and age:
- A Canadian passport, a provincial driver's licence or another government photo card.
- The document must be current, in colour and show all four corners.
To confirm where you live:
- A recent document in your name showing your home address, such as a utility bill, a bank statement or a government letter.
- Screenshots and edited files are not accepted.
To confirm you own the payment method:
- Mastercard: a photo showing the front of the card, middle digits covered.
- For PayPal, Neteller or MuchBetter: a screenshot of your account page with your name visible.
- For Interac e-Transfer or bank transfers: a statement showing your name and the account used.
Send documents by email or upload them in your account. We aim to check them fast and tell you right away if anything is unclear.
Explaining your source of funds
For bigger amounts, or a sharp shift in activity, we ask where your playing money comes from: your source of funds. Sometimes we also examine your overall financial situation, called source of wealth.
- Common examples: recent payslips, bank statements and tax records, or papers that show income from a property sale, an inheritance or a business.
- The money should match what we know about you.
- While we check what you send, deposits and cash-outs may be put on hold.
Monitoring accounts over time
Verification is not a one-off step. We watch accounts for patterns linked to fraud or laundering.
- Deposits taken back out after hardly any play.
- Many deposits from different payment methods in a short time.
- Play that does not match what we know about the player.
- Logins from unexpected locations or shared details across accounts.
When something stands out, we may request fresh documents or updated details. Keep your account information current so checks stay quick.
Handling failed checks
If a document is missing, unclear or does not match, we tell you what else we need. If the checks fail after that:
- Deposits, play and withdrawals are restricted until the issue is resolved.
- Bonuses and winnings tied to false details or another person's payment method are void.
- Accounts linked to fraud, a sanction match or a refusal to cooperate are closed.
- If the law allows, we refund verified deposits to the method they came from.
- Duplicate accounts are closed and only one, verified account may remain.
Keeping records and meeting reporting duties
Canadian law sets how long we keep verification records and transaction data. We store this information securely for the full period required, then delete it.
- As the law requires, we notify the relevant Canadian authorities of large and suspicious transactions.
- The law prevents us from telling a player that such a report was filed.
- We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement.
